IVF cost: build a budget that includes the missing lines

Direct answer

There is no universal IVF price. A useful comparison separates consultation and tests, medication, retrieval, anaesthesia, laboratory work, transfer, freezing, storage, optional genetic testing and travel. Prices should be dated, tied to a named clinic and show cancellation, refund and additional-cycle terms. A headline package price is not comparable until its inclusions and triggers are clear.

What changes — and what to ask

What can vary

  • ✓ Medication dose and monitoring
  • ✓ Laboratory add-ons
  • ✓ Number of cycles or transfers
  • ✓ Travel and storage duration

Questions to take forward

  • Is medication included and is there a cap?
  • Which laboratory services are optional?
  • What happens financially if retrieval or transfer is cancelled?
  • How long is storage included?

Evidence boundary

What this page does not prove

  • IVFToday does not publish an undated universal price because packages and currencies change.
  • A planning range is not a binding quote or a promise that one cycle will be sufficient.

03 · Common questions

Before you make a decision

01Why do two IVF quotations look so different?

They may use different clinical scopes, medication assumptions, laboratory services, storage periods and definitions of what counts as one cycle.

02Should I choose the cheapest package?

Price matters, but compare licensing, laboratory standards, communication, exclusions, cancellation terms and the clinical rationale as well.

03Is genetic testing included?

Often it is priced separately or capped by embryo number. Confirm biopsy, laboratory testing, shipping and result counselling individually.

04What contingency should I plan?

Ask what additional medication, another retrieval, another transfer, prolonged storage or a change in travel could cost in your programme.
